Desi Wool Blanket, natural red

455.00

These wool blankets are hand woven from local (or desi) wool on traditional pit looms in Kutch, Gujarat, an area famed for its weaving.

Desi wool has a distinctive "dry" texture, typical of wool from this area, although our blankets incorporate a warp of merino wool to soften the feel.  Because the desi wool is hand spun, the blankets have a wonderfully irregular colour, full of movement.

Once woven, our throws are sent to our hand embroiderers in Gujarat, to embellish with lines of traditional Soi work using English crewel wool in jewel-like colours.

Special embroidery colours are available for interior design projects - please contact us to discuss.

Woven in two widths, joined by a flat seam down the centre, and hemmed all round.

200 x 260cm (79" x 102")
